Doctors permanently sterilized the unfortunate man who went under the knife to have his gallbladder removed

Jorge Base, a 41-year-old father of two, went under the knife for gallbladder surgery at the Florencio Diaz public hospital. However, due to an alleged confusion by hospital management, Jorge’s surgery mistakenly turned into a vasectomy, a permanent birth control method.

Filled with anger, Jorge conveyed this tragic incident to the press and stated that doctors should consider artificial insemination in order to have children. The hospital’s medical staff stated that this mistake could not be corrected and Jorge’s dream of having a third child was now dashed. Jorge said that as a result of accidental sterilization, it was no longer possible for him and his wife to have the daughter they dreamed of.

Jorge’s lawyer, Diego Larrey, claimed that there was an error in the hospital’s routine procedures, stating that gallbladder surgeries were performed on Tuesdays and sterilization operations were performed on Wednesdays. This confusion is thought to have caused confusion for doctors.

Argentina’s Federal Ministry of Health launched an investigation after this unfortunate incident. While Jorge expressed the pain and helplessness he experienced, he stated that the hospital officials made his situation worse by not admitting the mistake.
