Who is Thomas Mathew Crooks, which country is he a citizen of?

Pennsylvania voter records show that Thomas Matthew Crooks, with the same address and date of birth, is a registered Republican.

The FBI has identified the gunman responsible for Saturday’s deadly attack at former President Donald Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of the nearby town of Bethel Park, The Free Press Journal reported.

The FBI is conducting the investigation into the incident, which resulted in the death of one participant and serious injury to another, and Secret Service personnel neutralized the attacker.

NBC News reported that Pennsylvania voter registration records show Thomas Matthew Crooks as a registered Republican, with the same address and date of birth, although it is unclear from the records when he registered. FEC contribution records also show a single $15 ActBlue contribution earmarked for the Progressive Turnout Project, a liberal voter engagement group.

According to the New York Times , Crooks did not have a criminal history reflected in Pennsylvania’s public court records. According to The Tribune-Review , he completed his high school education at Bethel Park High School in 2022 and received a “star award” worth $500 from the National Mathematics and Science Initiative upon graduation.

In the footage circulating on the internet, Crooks was seen confessing his hatred for Trump and the Republican Party, but it turned out that the video was edited by an impersonator.

The shooting occurred during Trump’s speech and prompted an immediate response from law enforcement and Secret Service agents. Although authorities have not yet determined the motive for the assassination attempt, the FBI has pledged to devote all necessary resources to the investigation.

Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as gunshots rang out during the rally. Secret Service agents quickly surrounded Trump and rushed him off the stage as blood was visible on his face. As Trump was being led away, he raised his fist toward the crowd in a gesture of defiance.

Hours after the incident, Trump described the heartbreaking moment in a post on Truth Social. “I was hit by a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear,” he wrote. “I knew right away something was wrong because I heard a buzzing sound, gunshots, and felt the bullet pierce the skin.”

Trump campaign senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles confirmed that despite the uphill battle, the former president is “in good shape” and plans to attend the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee to accept his party’s nomination.

In his statement, Trump expressed his gratitude to the Secret Service and law enforcement for their quick response. He also expressed his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy. “Most importantly, I want to express my condolences to the family of the person killed at the rally, as well as the family of another person who was seriously injured,” Trump said.
