UAE shortens working hours during Ramadan

In the UAE, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has decided to shorten working hours by 2 hours during the month of Ramadan.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has shortened working hours by 2 hours during the month of Ramadan.

THEY SHORTEN THEIR WORKING HOURS BY 2 HOURS

During the month of Ramadan in the UAE, working hours of private sector employees will be reduced by 2 hours per day. Any additional hours worked beyond the reduced schedule may be considered overtime and workers will be entitled to extra compensation.

Companies in the country will also have the option to follow flexible or remote working schedules during Ramadan, within daily working hours and in accordance with the nature of the work.

BOTH FASTING AND NON-FASTING EMPLOYEES WILL BENEFIT

The working hours regulation will be applied to both fasting and non-fasting employees, making it easier for them to participate in spiritual activities and cultural practices during Ramadan.

The Ministry stated that during the month of Ramadan, all ministries and federal institutions will work from Monday to Thursday, from 09.00 in the morning to 14.30 in the afternoon. On Fridays, working hours will be from 09.00 in the morning to 12.00 in the afternoon, unless the nature of the work requires otherwise.
