Stephen Gould died aged 61. Cause of death and details!

Bayreuth Festival announced that American Heldentenor Stephen Gould, one of the shining stars of recent years, passed away. Stephen, 61, has stepped down from three roles this summer and only two weeks ago made it clear he was suffering from inoperable bile duct cancer.

The speed of his decline and the shock of his death left the opera world silent with grief. Stephen Gould made his Bayreuth debut in 2004 and played more than 100 performances there.

Although his career was late to take off, he gained worldwide respect and affection after an insignificant beginning as a baritone.
