Painter pig ‘Pigcasso’ passed away

The paintings of Pigcasso, the pig he saved from going to the slaughterhouse by taking it from a farm in South Africa in 2016, were sold for over $1 million.

‘Pigcasso’, who became famous on social media as the painting pig, died at the age of 8.

Pigcasso’s owner, Joanne Lefson, announced yesterday that the pig died at the age of 8 due to chronic Rheumatoid arthritis (joint inflammation).

Lefson said the following about the painting of Pigcasso, whom he bought from a farm in South Africa in 2016 and saved from going to the slaughterhouse:

“I was curious about the pig’s interest in the brush and decided to see if the pig wanted to paint…”

“I changed the brush to fit the pig’s mouth…”

“It didn’t take long for him to create art on the canvas I placed on my counter.”

HIS PAINTINGS WERE FOUND BY BUYERS FOR OVER 1 MILLION DOLLARS

After being rescued, Pigcasso lived at Farm Sanctuary, a non-profit foundation for rescued farm animals in the small town of Franschhoek, South Africa. His paintings have been sold for over $1 million.

Pigcasso’s paintings attracted attention from celebrities such as Ed Westwick, Rafael Nadal and Jane Goodall.
