For the first time, a master’s program in magic is opened at a university in England.

The MA in Magic and Occult Science will be held within the University of Exeter’s Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies.

The University of Exeter in England announced that it will launch a master’s degree program in magic and magic starting from September 2024.

It was stated that the Magic and Occult Science Master’s Program will be a program that combines the study of the history of magic in England with a wide range of different subjects.

The program, which is prepared for the first time in England, aims to provide students with information and research on the history of mysterious and supernatural events and their impact on society.

Courses to be offered in the program include Dragons in Western Literature and Art, Depiction of Women in the Middle Ages and Philosophy of Hallucinogenic Substances.

The role of magic around the world will be examined in the program, which will include expert academics in the fields of history, literature, philosophy, archaeology, sociology, psychology, drama and religion.

At the end of the program, which will be held within the university’s Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, students will be given the option of writing a text-based thesis or completing a thesis using applied techniques.

“Interest in magic and mysterious events has increased”

The program is directed by Prof. Dr. Emily Selove stated that there has been an increase in interest in magic and occultism in recent years.

Selove expressed the view that the program will help reconsider the assumption that while rationalism and science come to the fore in the West, the rest of the world is driven by magic and beliefs.

Pointing out that the program is not far from hotly debated topics today, Selove said, “Decolonization, exploration of alternative theories of knowledge, feminism and anti-racism are at the center of this program.” said.

Answering the question of why the program is located at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, Selove said, “By hosting this degree at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, we acknowledge the deep debt of Western culture and science to the Arab-Islamic world; this history is a unique part of the West.” It has been erased in creating our false picture of being somehow rational.” made his assessment.
