According to the BBC, Rivera’s daughter Lisa Mordente made a statement regarding her mother’s death. Mordente stated that Broadway star Rivera, an American, died in New York at the age of 91 due to his illness. Rivera, who was awarded the Tony Lifetime Achievement Award and known for his successful theater career that lasted nearly 70 years, was also remembered by his colleagues and friends. Tony Awards, in its post on social media platform Actor Jason Alexander, in his statement on the same platform, stated that Rivera was “one of the greatest colleagues he has ever known” and noted that he “will always remember her with love.”
Actress Mia Farrow also called Rivera “a true Broadway icon.” The famous artist, who played the characters Anita in “West Side Story” and Rose in “Bye Bye Birdie”, was deemed worthy of Tony Awards for the musicals “The Rink” and “Kiss of the Spider Woman”.
