The sudden and unexpected death of former Torfaen Tigers RLFC, Wales Dragonhearts and Wales U19 international Dale Tucker has come as a shock to the close-knit community of Welsh Rugby League. Only 32 years old, Tucker’s untimely departure left an irreplaceable void.
Early life and career
Born and raised in Newport, Dale Tucker’s rugby league journey began in his youth as a youth player for the Newport Titans. In 2009, he played for Wales U19 and contributed to the 30-6 win against Scotland U19.

Tucker played a pivotal role in Wales Dragonhearts’ triumphant ‘grand slam’ victory over England, Ireland and Scotland, securing the Community Four Nations title. His outstanding performance earned him the “Young Player of the Year” award in 2011.
Versatility on the Field
Following the disbandment of Newport Titans, Tucker moved seamlessly to Torfaen Tigers and showcased his scoring ability in both English and Welsh competitions. In rugby, he devoted over a decade to Newport Saracens, praised by the club as “one of the best to wear the red and black”.
